What We Do:
The automobile is the most heavily recycled consumer product in the world, ARS focuses on connecting suppliers and recyclers to optimize the use of these vehicles throughout the recycling stream. By partnering with some of the Nation’s best charities and running their vehicle donation programs, ARS has helped raise over $130 million dollars for these charities through these recycling efforts.
Why We Decided to Take the Challenge:
Our primary interest is a deeper understanding of our strengths and weaknesses so that we can move forward in being a better employer, partner, and advocate for socially responsible businesses. We hope that our participation can help to spur more interest from the for profit community to aspire to impact goals.
What We Learned:
The Challenge has been a good exercise for looking through a different set of eyes. We have had a slightly myopic approach to our business and the challenge gave us a different perspective. It has inspired us to formalize some of our goals and to reach for other things previously out of our attention.
What We Did as a Result:
We researched other companies’ wellness and satisfaction gauges, identified some targets worth consistent attention and formalized an approach to monitor and advance.

Do This! Don’t get caught in a tunnel vision. The Best for Rhode Island Challenge is a good tool for discovery. Best for Rhode Island should help foster a stronger community of purpose-driven companies and entrepreneurs.
